Courses on Renewable Energy Technologies in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan by Dr Abylaikhan Soltanayev and Taalaibek Mederov

Dr Abylaikhan Soltanayev, Senior Lecturer at the Almaty University of Power Engeneering and Telecommunication (AUPET / AUES) and the German Kazakh University in Almay (DKU), and Taalaibek Mederov, researcher at the Kyrgyz Technical State University in Bishkek (KSTU), gave seminars on the state of Technologies applied in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

Both countries have committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions under the Paris Agreement. Kazakhstan has announced greenhouse gas reductions of 15 and 25 per cent by 2023. Kyrgyzstan has set a target of between 16 and 44 per cent. Technological modernisation and energy efficiency are key components of the national strategies.
