Bishkek Cycling Lab presented at the Living Lab Conference in Wuppertal
Kubatbek Muktarbek uulu and Professor Jochen Eckart took part in the conference “Living Labs – transfer from research into everyday practice” organised by the German Association of Transport Sciences. Kubatbek Muktarbek uulu is a scientist and engineer at the Krygyz Technical State University in Bishkek (KSTU) and the Berliner Hochschule für Technik (BHT). Jochen Eckart is Professor for Transport Ecology at the University of Applied Sciences in Karlsruhe (HKA).
The Bishkek Cycling Lab was a Living Lab project initiated and supported by the SPCE Hub and implemented in partnership with KSTU, HKA, the OSCE Academy in Bishkek, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Kyrgyzstan and the Intersectoral School of Governance BW.
Although cycling is not yet very popular in Kyrgyzstan, the capital city of Bishkek already has a vibrant cycling community and a cycling network that the city administration plans to expand. The goal of the Bishkek Cycling Lab was to test methods for creating safe cycling infrastructure faster and cheaper.
