Forthcoming Workshop: Co-Creation and Integration of Knowledge in Transdisciplinary Projects in the Energy and Mobility Sector
We are pleased to announce that we will be conducting a workshop on co-creation and integration of knowledge within transdisciplinary projects. This workshop is organised within the SPCE Hub Network. Trainers are outstanding experts on transdisciplinary research and education.
Where: Almaty, Kazakhstan
When: Autumn 2026
About Transdisciplinary Research and Education
Transdisciplinary research addresses complex societal challenges by integrating perspectives from academia and practice. It typically pursues three complementary objectives:
1) Scientific objectives: advancing academic knowledge and research
2) Practical objectives: developing solutions to real-world problems
3) Educational objectives: strengthening learning processes and capacities for addressing societal challenges
A defining feature of transdisciplinary research is the collaboration and co-creation of knowledge with stakeholders, including practitioners, policymakers, businesses, and civil society actors. Such projects often involve the joint development of solutions, including considerations of implementation and, where appropriate, experimental testing of proposed approaches. Whilst interdisciplinary research integrates perspectives from different academic disciplines, transdisciplinary research goes a step further by actively involving partners with relevant expertise from key sectors in the research and knowledge production process.
Workshop Content
The workshop combines conceptual input, practical methods, and case discussions. Topics include:
- Introduction to transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary research
- Methods for co-creation and integration of scientific and experiential knowledge, including the planning and facilitation of stakeholder workshops
- Case studies of transdisciplinary projects
- Science-business cooperation in managing and measuring sustainability impact
- The research-education nexus in transdisciplinary projects
Target Group
The workshop is intended for university staff members from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, from engineering, economics/business, and the social sciences who are interested in transdisciplinary approaches. Applicants with connections to the fields of energy and/or mobility are particularly encouraged to apply.
